A Tiger Who Refused to be Tricked: a Sequel Many are of the opinion that tigers are mean, ferocious beasts who will attack without warning. The contrary is more accurate of a description. A good way to view a tigers life is a cat scaled up. A good cat will catch and eat mice and birds when he is hungry, so in the same way a tiger will hunt its prey on a larger scale. Substituting wildebeasts and deer for mice and birds. So imagine the tiger’s surprise when he is set upon by a terrified human and a vindictive jackal and tricked into a cage. “I am simply living my life, you two are not worth my time. Now let me out of this blasted cage at once” said the Tiger in his deep, soothing voice. “Lies” cried the Jackal, “we saw what you did to that deer over the hill.” As he pointed aghast at the remnants of the Tigers breakfast. “Ay, that we did” agreed the human. Tricksters: Tiger, Brahman, and Jackal I really enjoyed this story, the telling of it was fast pace and creative. I enjoyed the personification of inanimate objects such as the road and the other animals talking to the human as if they were cognitively on the same level providing a tone similar to that of George Orwell's "Animal Farm." I will definitely use a similar idea to giving the road a personality in my store. I loved the way the dialogue flowed in the story between narration and character conversations. I will use this same story telling technique for my story.  I will be sure to include a clever plot twist if possible, similar to the end of this story, I won't spoil the ending for anyone who reads this post! Beowulf I read Beowulf when I was 12 and I didn't think I was really able to grasp the complexities of the story. I hope that one of these readings will make more sense now that I am older. I really enjoyed the story and I am excited to read more about it. Robin Hood I have always liked the story of Robin Hood and grew up watching the movie. It will be very interesting to see how that story began. Turkish Fairy Tales  Story: The Soothsayer My mothers family originated from Armenia, and Turkey is the closest location to Armenia that anyone would recognize. What I learned most from these strategies is to just start. Just start doing anything, its the little things that matter in the beginning. Work on big projects in little bits. I read the Important Habit of Just starting and 4 Questions to Help you overcome procrastination . One question I had a problem with was what will happen if I don't do this now? This is something I ask myself a lot and is why I don't end up getting things done early. I will focus on just starting assignments this semester, beginning with the little things.       Personally, I hate the word procrastinate. At this point, the word has been so overused that it has no meaning to me. Its become a social norm that everyone has subconsciously accepted as okay. I think there needs to be a new brand that displays how putting off something is a failure to your future self. Other than what we have already covered in this class, the technology tools listed are completely alien to me. I am excited to learn news skills that can be applied later in life. It is always good to be informed about how to use the internet as basically everything in our world is now online. This online environment is very different than what I have experienced in my other classes. The stress level is down considerably and the amount of freedom is exhilarating. I would love to work on my skills in image editing and Photoshop. As well as creating websites and memes with photos that I have found. I am most intrigued by the readings and the story telling. I think that it will be a very cool experience to be able to free write a story based off of what I have learned in this class. This is very different that what I have done in my other classes. In all my other classes, all of the assignments have be compulsory and I did not every have a say on what assignments I could and couldn't do. I like the idea of learning what I want to learn and being able to substitute what I don't find interesting with extra credit. I like the idea of looking at the Wikipedia trails. I have not heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before. But I think that this concept has already been apart of my personality  just without a name. This is an interesting concept that is really the key to future life success. Life is about the process, not the end reward. I see myself as someone who is fixated on achieving perfect grades, rather than trying to learn a new subject and apply that. I believe that this also the fault of the institution. I have been taught since starting school that grades are everything. Academics to me are less about the opportunity to learn, and more about the obligation to succeed or be discounted, despite the amount of effort I put in. The biggest challenge about trying to learn in college is I feel like I am being forced to learn what I am interested in and discouraged to learn what I am most interested in. Hello! My name is Matt Borgerding. I am a senior and my major is Health and Exercise Science Pre-Physical Therapy. The coolest thing about my major is that we have to opportunity to dissect cadavers for human anatomy as well as a great deal of very interesting courses that have to do with how the body works as and how to live a healthier life. My best accomplishment last semester was getting an A in physics 2 by 10 points. My favorite movies are Shooter and Hot Rod. Celtic Creatures The topic is what really made me want to read this story. I have always been interested in going to Ireland some day and exploring the country side. The idea of there being fantastic myths about Celtic creatures peaks my interest further. I thought that the intro presented a good idea of what the story would be about. It included a dry humor that tells the reader what the tone of the story is going to be. Specifically that it will cover stories involving a Banshee, Bogle, Fairy Folk and a Leprechaun. It give a clear idea about the location of the myths and Folk Lore surrounding the Celtic creatures. The layout of the page really caught my eye. Especially the image used in this blog of a lush green forest. It gives the impression of a foreboding, mysterious world. The page is clean and does not distract from the story being told.. Buena Vista is one of my favorite places to visit. There is so much to do as far as hiking trails and climbing mountains. The weather in the summer time when I have been there is amazing and a refreshing change form the Oklahoma summer weather.
