My learned Growth Mindset

I have not heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before. But I think that this concept has already been apart of my personality  just without a name. This is an interesting concept that is really the key to future life success. Life is about the process, not the end reward. I see myself as someone who is fixated on achieving perfect grades, rather than trying to learn a new subject and apply that. I believe that this also the fault of the institution. I have been taught since starting school that grades are everything. Academics to me are less about the opportunity to learn, and more about the obligation to succeed or be discounted, despite the amount of effort I put in. The biggest challenge about trying to learn in college is I feel like I am being forced to learn what I am interested in and discouraged to learn what I am most interested in. I think that the growth mindset is interesting, but I don't feel like much is going to change for me at this point in my academic career.I would really love to learn more about mythology and folklore this semester as it is a subject that fascinates me. I love to learn about how urban legends and other stories originated.
